Before you launch
A few useful answers.
Is Elite Nexus free?
Yes. Elite Nexus is free and open source under GPL-3.0, with no ads or app subscription. The optional AI co-pilot uses a provider you configure; cloud providers may have their own usage limits or charges. You can also connect a local model.
Do I need AI to use the app?
No. Trading, exploration, engineering, exobiology, navigation and cockpit tools have their own dedicated interfaces. The AI co-pilot is an additional way to ask questions and use supported tools.
Which platforms and game versions work?
Elite Nexus runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and 11 and reads the journal files produced by the PC game. It supports Horizons and Odyssey data; activities such as exobiology and on-foot equipment require Odyssey. There is no console, macOS or Linux build.
What changes in my game?
Journal tracking only reads the files the game writes. HUD colours and glare settings are applied when you choose. Cockpit-light dimming and contact-colour protection use an optional graphics hook, with installation and removal controls. Read the cockpit setup details before enabling it.
Can I keep using my other tools?
You choose your own setup. Elite Nexus reads the game’s journal files and offers opt-in community sync, so check which app is uploading for you. Its optional graphics hook cannot run alongside EDHM or another 3Dmigoto mod. See how the workflows fit together.
